Strategic R&D collaborations fueling scientific progress.

GENOMETAD

Project name: Genómica de cepas resistentes de
P. falciparum para su aplicación en Drug Discovery

Abstract: The objective of the project is to understand antimalarial drug resistance, a recurring obstacle in the fight against malaria disease. For that, in vivo resistance generation assays and Whole Genome Sequencing of mutated parasites will be combined and integrated using mathematical models. The ultimate goal of this line of research is to design a third-party service that allows predicting whether new drugs will remain effective once used generically in humans and anticipate parasite response to the extensive use of a drug in the field.

Program: HAZITEK 2024
Project code: ZL-2024/00132

MEDICINES FOR MALARIA VENTURE

Project name: Malaria Translational Unit

Abstract: A collaboration agreement to facilitate the use of the TAD humanized mouse models of human malaria to evaluate new drugs in preclinical and clinical development supported by MMV. The agreement is place since January 2016 to date.

TAD Gate medical research institute

GATES MEDICAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE

Project name: An industrial liver stage model in humanized
mice for drug evaluation and human dose prediction

Abstract: A project with the ultimate goal of developing humanized mouse models for the evaluation of new antimalarials against liver stages of P. vivax in vivo under industrial-quality standards and affordable price to service the  malaria scientific community (Years 2017-2019).

EUREKA/CDTI

TRANSMAL E!11500 (EuroStars/Interempresas)

Abstract: A project of international collaboration with TropIQ Health Sciences (Nijmegen, The Netherlands) aiming at implementing a commercial, fee-for-service platform for cost-effective evaluation of the  pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamics in vitro and in vivo of new drugs in drug discovery and development for P. falciparum transmission blocking and prophylaxis. (Years 2017-2020)
